Mr. Cohen received his law degree from the University of California, Davis in 1989 and his undergradate degree from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor in 1986. 

Mr. Cohen is very active as a leader in legal community. 

Mr. Cohen regularly volunteers his time as a judge pro tem in the family law department (Placer County Superior Court), family law settlement department (Sacramento County Superior Court and Placer County Superior Court, and small claims court (Sacramento County Superior Court).

Mr. Cohen is the Chair of the Custody Sub-Committee of the Family Law Section of the Sacramento County Bar Association as well as the Vice-Chair of the Children's Counsel Section of the Sacramento County Bar Association.

Mr. Cohen regularly teaches family law courses for attorneys.
